Geocaching has been around for a while (mainly since 2000 since certain GPS restrictions were lifted) but it’s become more popular with advancing GPS technology.
Basically you visit Geocaching.com and input a zip code which results in a list of all the “caches†that are in that area. There are hints on finding the cache based on puzzles or sometimes specific coordinates. Your job is to find it and retrieve the items in the container (if you want) but always replace it with something else for the next person to find.
This sort of modern day treasure hunting is a great way to become familiar with GPS tracking and everything that’s possible with the technology.
